Lupe Fiasco was not off the mark in his Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album (Part 1) album, especially the Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free Song). Since that time period in 2012, there has been a shift in consciousness and new social norms that have gone as far as proving that we are nothing but new age prisoners to a cell no law abiding citizen can escape: The Prison Of The Mind
Be it perceptions we learn from the internet and how we use those and other semi-verified sources of information to justify ourselves as self-righteous martyrs of a cause we are not fully informed about, or endorsing destructive behaviour that can as much as it may benefit one group it may be destructive to another, a lesson I had to embrace not so long ago.
Many of The Crusaders in the fight for a conscious renaissance is the voice, thoughts and engaging conversations of Nokuthula Khwela. Known for her sometimes controversial and thought provoking Facebook posts asking questions that prove how close minded a lot of us still are and how far we have to go in developing our awareness of the world.
Her Podcast Unravel With Nokuthula Khwela, is quickly becoming a social media phenomenon in which she shares a wide range of topics from high end prostitution to ilobolo re-analysing it from a critical point of view and engagement as with other traditional norms this cultural practice has evolved too, be it for the better or worse it is up to you to decide after listening to her podcast and maybe challenging what you know by learning more about the topics discussed on this podcast

The change in times and how we can make slight adjustments to our ways of thought which, as much as they have been the pillar of a systematic way of living they are now threatened with being outdated as the narratives of society and norms have taken on many new faces, isms and leaders who have added new directions to our moral compass.
Not everything is North, South, East, or West anymore, being steadfast in one direction and not looking at other directions in your journey to awakening is more dangerous now more than ever, chivalry can be misogyny in a case where a man is only kind to a woman purely because of her physical appearance which has features that appeal to him, so to can Misandry be Feminism where prejudice against all men can be hidden under the justified hashtags #MenAreTrash and sadly how the injustices of Gender Based Violence can be used as a catalyst to exercise the peak of anger that has been harboured against men for eons a good portion of that being justified.
I will admit this, I am not informed enough about the domestic experiences of other races enough for me to make an informed OPINION (we honestly have to differentiate opinions from facts) about their experiences, I can only speak to some form of relevance to the black experience and I will go as far as saying the new war, which is global in scale is one of a black on black crime, comparison, competition, classism and capitalist survival (or what I call new age Darwinism) where we have sacrificed Ubuntu in place of every man for himself. I have often heard you can’t save everyone so rather save yourself and your family at best.

The start of any organisation, collective, or societal change always starts with dialogue, we learn, we grow, and we decide how we evolved and where we want our conscious states of mind to be, I recently learned from a philosopher and writer Cebo Hadebe that the world does not revolve around me, which made me think how a great number of minds in the youth are now filled with self-serving agendas that will be forced into reality even at the cost at human lives and maybe just maybe having the internet shaken by Unravel with Nokuthula Khwela is going to be a start to a much needed evolution. The time is now to take our lives back; they do not belong to us as much as we think they do.
