Perception is a tricky devil. Often we fall victim to being treated or treating someone a certain manner based on what has been said about them/us. Mek’thiwa ungizwa ngendaba what is meant is you think you know me when you have only heard about me.
Such is the notion that Durban Artist’s Nommie and Rhea Blek have challenged. Their smash hit Indaba (which needs a video, I have been fighting for this for months someone help) is based on challenging the notion of perception, where you either love or hate based on another person’s opinion of them.
In this riveting mixture of traditional rhythm fused into a modern pop aesthetic, you hear it from the horses mouth. Nommie and Rhea tell you who they are what they are about, how they will shake the industry to it’s core and most important how they are coming for everything they couldn’t have because they are women.
21st Century African pride, intricate Lyricism, exciting wordplay and a message that reflects how these ladies are not to be messed with. If you ain’t know you better ask somebody.
