As far as dreams are concerned, many in our black community especially women are often told that theirs are not valid. We are told to conform, play within the rules, get by and live for the next day. The beautiful thing about the born frees is that we are exactly that born free. Free from limits, free from the tyranny of doubt, free to dream, free to create and free to build.
As far as building is concerned no one has replenished our minds and quenched our literal and abstract thirst quite like Luhle Shange. The 21 year old Pietermaritzburg native who is currently based in Durban runs an exciting flavoured water Company Called iJusi.
The pending Business graduate (who’s graduating in March) did not reach this point in her life and business that easily. Her first business was a Jewelry Company which did not succeed due to circumstances beyond her control. Her second business venture was an events company which also did not succeed as she had planned.
When she took a leap of faith with iJusi she hit a home run and has been covering every base since then. Ijusi is turning one year old as a fully operational company in May and it specialises in the distribution of flavoured and still water within the KZN Region.
When asked about why she decided to settle into this line of business Luhle took the reason to its simplest and most potent context: Love. Luhle loves water, she always has water with her and acknowledges its importance for ones health and taste buds.
Why not water with flavour? Why not go beyond the traditional rules of the industry and give the water business a brave new voice, a perspective of the youth? So we start small, we distribute to high schools and universities like AFDA and DUT with the goal of of distrbuting to major retailers Nationwide and eventually the whole continent.
Evolution. Persistence. Will. If these words don’t define Luhle Shange, the dictionary has will no longer have a place in society. She continues to serve as an example of try, try and try again until you make something of yourself. Never one to show and tell, always one to show and prove, not only striving to be great but manifest greatness in her daily stride
